KVKK Personal Data Notice

Under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK"), Masal Merkezi, as the data controller, informs you that your personal data is processed as described below.

1. Data controller

2. Personal data processed

  • Identity and contact: name, e-mail address and, if you signed in with Google, your Google account identifier.
  • Usage: favorite tales, tales read, account creation and log in dates.
  • Optional: child's first name and age.
  • Security: hashed password, session keys, IP address and server logs.

3. Purposes

Creating and managing your account, syncing favorites and reading lists across devices, suggesting age-appropriate tales, password resets, answering requests, information security and meeting legal obligations.

4. Legal grounds

KVKK Article 5/2 (c) processing directly related to the formation or performance of a contract, (ç) compliance with a legal obligation and (f) the legitimate interest of the data controller, provided it does not harm your fundamental rights and freedoms. The child's name and age are information the parent chooses to enter and are processed under the account agreement.

5. Collection method

Data is collected electronically through the sign up and account forms on the website and in the mobile apps, and automatically while the Service is used.

6. Transfers

Your personal data is not transferred abroad and is not shared with third parties for advertising or marketing. It may be shared with competent public authorities only on request and as permitted by law. The only information sent to the MyMemory service abroad for word translation is an English word containing no personal data. For Google sign in, the token issued by Google is sent to Google LLC for verification; this transfer relies on the person choosing to sign in with Google.

7. Retention

Account data is kept until the account is deleted and server logs for at most 6 months; after that they are deleted or anonymised.

8. Your rights under KVKK Article 11

You have the right to learn whether your data is processed, to request information about it, to learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly, to know the third parties it is transferred to, to request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data, to request deletion or destruction under Article 7, to request that these actions be notified to third parties, to object to a result against you arising from automated analysis, and to claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.
