In the forest there lived three bears: Great Big Father Bear, Middle-sized Mother Bear and Tiny Little Baby Bear. One morning Mother Bear made soup and put it into three bowls. The soup was very hot; they went for a walk in the forest to let it cool.

Just then a curious girl called Goldilocks was wandering in the forest. She saw the little house, knocked at the door, and when nobody opened it she went in. On the table were three bowls of soup. She tasted the big bowl: "Too hot!" She tasted the middle bowl: "Too cold!" She tasted the little bowl: "Just right!" and she ate it all up.

Then she saw three chairs. She sat in the big one: "Too hard!" She sat in the middle one: "Too soft!" She sat in the little one: "Just right!" But the chair was tiny; it broke with a crack.

She went upstairs and saw three beds. The big bed was too hard, the middle bed was too soft, and the little bed was just right. Goldilocks curled up in the little bed and fell asleep.

The bears came home. Father Bear said in his deep voice, "Someone has been tasting my soup!" Mother Bear said, "Someone has been tasting mine too!" Baby Bear cried in his thin little voice: "Someone has eaten up my soup!" They looked at the chairs; the baby's was broken. They went upstairs. Baby Bear shouted: "Someone is lying in my bed, and she's still there!"

Goldilocks opened her eyes, saw the three bears, jumped out of the window and ran home. She never again went into someone else's house without permission.

But that is not the end of the story. The next day Goldilocks knocked at the bears' door with a basket of apples and a new little chair. "I'm sorry," she said. Baby Bear loved the chair. From that day on Goldilocks came to the bears' house for soup every Sunday; but always after knocking at the door.

The tale ends here. Sleep well.
