At the foot of the mountain lived three billy goat brothers: Little Goat, Middle Goat and Big Goat. On the other side of the mountain there was a lush green meadow, but to get there you had to cross a bridge. And under the bridge lived a troll with huge eyes and a long nose.
First Little Goat started across. Trip-trap, trip-trap. The troll came out from under the bridge: "Who is crossing my bridge? I'm going to eat you!" Little Goat said, "Don't eat me, I'm small. My brother is coming behind me, and he's bigger." The troll said, "Very well, cross."
Then Middle Goat came. Trap-trap, trap-trap. "I'm going to eat you!" "Don't eat me, Big Goat is coming behind me, and he's much bigger." The troll waited again.
At last Big Goat came. THUMP THUMP, THUMP THUMP. The bridge shook. The troll sprang out: "I'm going to eat you!" Big Goat lowered his horns: "Come and try." The troll attacked; Big Goat lifted him into the air with his horns and flung him into the river. The troll was swept away by the current and never came back to that bridge.
The three goats reached the meadow. They ate so much grass that they could barely get home. They still live in that meadow today; if they haven't rolled away from being so fat.
Trip-trap, trap-trap, thump-thump. The tale is over; you go to sleep too.
The tale ends here. Sleep well.
