Tiny the little ant had been carrying wheat all day. When evening came, she wanted to go home to her nest. But it had grown dark, and she could not find the way. She went to the right, then to the left. There was no nest.
Tiny began to cry. A tiny little cry; no bigger than a drop of dew.
A voice came from above: "Who is crying down there?" A dove was looking out of its nest in the tree. "Me," said Tiny. "I've lost my way."
The dove came down. "You can't be on the road at night. Come and sleep in my nest; in the morning I'll show you the way." It picked Tiny up gently in its beak and carried her up to the nest. The nest was lined with soft feathers. The dove opened its wing: "In here."
Tiny crept under the dove's wing. It was warm. The dove's heart was beating: thump thump, thump thump. Tiny closed her eyes.
In the morning the sun rose. The dove picked Tiny up, flew and set her down right in front of the ants' nest. "Here you are." "Thank you," said Tiny. "One day I'll help you too." The dove smiled; it knew that tale.
You are under a wing right now too. Your quilt. Warm. Thump thump, thump thump. Sleep.
The tale ends here. Sleep well.
