Once upon a time three little pig brothers decided to leave their mother's house and build homes of their own. The first pig was lazy; he saw a pile of straw on the road, said "This job will be done in a day," and built a house of straw. The second pig was a little more hard-working; he knocked together a house of wood and finished it in two days. The third pig worked for days, brick by brick, mortar by mortar, and built a sturdy house. His brothers laughed at him: "What's the point of working so hard?"

One evening a wolf came out of the forest. First he came to the door of the straw house. "Little pig, open the door!" "I won't!" "Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" The wolf huffed and puffed; the straw house flew up into the air. The first pig ran and took shelter in the wooden house.

The wolf came to the wooden house. "I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" He huffed, he puffed, he huffed again; the planks cracked, and the house fell down. The two pigs ran and took shelter in the brick house.

The wolf came to the brick house. He huffed, he puffed, he huffed, he puffed... The house did not budge. The wolf was out of breath. "I'll come down the chimney," he said, and climbed onto the roof. But the third pig had a huge pot of water boiling on the fire. The wolf slid down the chimney and fell right into the pot, shouted "Owww!", shot back up the chimney and ran off into the forest. He never came back.

That night the three brothers sat in the brick house, beside the warm fire. The first pig said, "Tomorrow I'll build a brick house too." The second said, "So will I." The third pig smiled: "I'll help you. But tonight, sleep; a sturdy house begins with a sound sleep."

The tale ends here. Sleep well.
